Obesity during pregnancy: where we have been, ongoing controversies, and future directions

We will briefly review what is known about obesity during pregnancy prior to reviewing current controversies about pre-pregnancy and pregnancy management. The talk will conclude by looking forward at ongoing research whose findings will guide our management and recommendations in years to come.

Kathleen Antony is an associate professor of maternal-fetal medicine at Waipapa Taumata Rau/ the University of Auckland. She is board certified in obesity medicine in addition to obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine. Her research is focused on obesity during pregnancy, specifically sleep apnoea and its sequelae. She is interested in pursuing future projects on obesity during pregnancy and is keen to collaborate.
