Safe surgical management of miscarriage and abortion in the first trimester remain a core skill for any O&G practitioner, particularly those at the beginning of their career.
This workshop will cover up-to-date evidence on preparing for and safely emptying the first trimester gravid uterus surgically, with hands-on training with the IPAS Manual Vacuum Aspirator (MVA) – an inexpensive, reuseable handheld suction device used worldwide for uterine evacuation. In addition, we will discuss case-based examples, managing complications and potential local and national pathways.
This workshop will be facilitated by Dr Anna Hudspith and Dr Rachel Rapkin, co-chairs of APGANZ.
